Dr. Julia Simak-Boehm

Dr. Julia Simak-Boehm graduated from the University of Munich, Germany, in 2006 and her veterinary journey was focused on Cardiology right from the beginning. She continued working at the University’s Clinic of Small Animal Internal Medicine until 2012 completing initially her scientific thesis in Cardiology and a rotating internship, followed by a specialized Cardiology residency program with the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine.

She became a board-certified Veterinary Cardiologist in 2012 after passing rigorous exams and has been working in one of Hong Kong’s largest referral hospitals since 2013. Extending the high level of training, knowledge, and expertise defining a Cardiologist, Julia gained deep insight into the specifics of cardiac diseases in pets in Hong Kong over the last decade too, allowing her to understand the needs of her patients and owners even better. While she enjoys lecturing and contributing to various scientific publications, enhancing the quality of life for cardiac patients is the driving force behind what she does as a Cardiologist every day. Including and educating owners throughout the way helping them to understand the underlying disease process and utilizing the most up-to-date and effective medical or minimally-invasive interventional treatment available is an integral part of this endeavor.

She is very excited to continue to provide a state of the art, efficient, and patient/client orientated Cardiology service at the Animal Medical Academy continuing close collaboration with long-term colleague and fellow Cardiologist Dr. Peter Holler enhancing the care of our cardiac patients to an even higher level in a collaborative team approach.
